Suicide Prevention Month

As we approach Suicide Prevention Month, we want to remind everyone that suicide awareness and prevention are year-round practices. While dedicating a month to mental health awareness is valuable, it’s crucial to maintain momentum after September ends. This time of year is especially significant for CSPP because it strengthens and grows our connections within the construction industry. We are excited about our upcoming events and training and remain committed to sustaining these connections beyond September.

New Training Initiatives

  • QPR Training in Spanish: We are thrilled to announce the launch of our virtual QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training in Spanish! Language barriers are one of the most significant obstacles preventing construction workers from accessing the help they need. We hope this new training will break down those barriers, making it easier for our Spanish-speaking workers to access resources and mental health information.
  • Stress Management Workshop: This fall, we’re launching a Stress Management Workshop designed in collaboration with Lotus Education. This workshop provides valuable tools and techniques for managing stress, specifically tailored to the needs of construction workers.

Upcoming Outreach Events

Our calendar is filling up with Suicide Prevention Month outreach events. Starting next week, we will travel across the NW Region to lead QPR Training and de-escalation training, deliver our Rethink the Drink presentations, participate in panel discussions, and share our resources at construction safety and wellness events.

We will be capping off Suicide Prevention Month with our free virtual construction-specific QPR Training. QPR is an evidence-based suicide intervention training that teaches participants the warning signs of suicide, how to ask someone directly about suicide, and how to refer them to additional support. You can register for our QPR Training here:

Throughout September, we’ll post highlights and photos from our outreach efforts to share with our partners. We hope you’ll do the same!

Suicide Prevention Month Banners!

This year, CSPP teamed up with Lines For Life’s communication team to design three new suicide prevention banners. These banners are an easy way to increase awareness, build hope, and connect with our resources. You can find all the details here.
