With all the excitement of spring, the solar eclipse, and upcoming Safety Week events, I am delighted to add our updates into the mix!
Planting Seeds
We kicked off April with our Suicide Prevention Overview Presentation to the Washington Aggregate and Concrete Association Group. It was a virtual presentation to a large crowd with no technical hitches!
On Saturday, April, 6, we presented “Rethink the Drink” and had an exhibit at UA 290’s Health Fair in Tualatin, OR. UA 290 is a multi-craft union comprising over 5,000 active and retired members, renowned for their expertise in the fabrication, installation, and servicing of piping systems. Their Annual Health Fair is a platform that engages their members in learning about emerging health and safety practices within the trades, including heart health screenings and healthy cooking demonstrations.
We presented in collaboration with Steve Harris, the Outreach Manager for Serenity Lanes. We focused on the mental health risks associated with substance use in the trade; Steve zeroed in on treatment and addiction. We had dynamic discussions and learned valuable perspectives from our attendees.
QPR is Blooming
Last Thursday, I led my first CSPP QPR session with participants from all over the nation, including South Carolina! With 20 attendees, we had the highest level of participation CSPP has seen since we launched our free virtual QPR sessions. We are eager to maintain this trend for our upcoming session on April 25th at 8 am. Register here if you are interested in attending.
In addition to our monthly QPR, our schedule is jam-packed with QPR presentations with local and national construction companies.
Safety Week Seedlings
We have booked several in-person and virtual presentations for Safety Week. Our in-person presentations and toolbox talks will take us to Hillsboro, Beaverton, all around Portland, and Troutdale; and we will be presenting virtually to the New Jersey ASSP.
If your company is interested in having CSPP present, just contact us!
The Sun is Shining on the CSPP
Check out CSPP in the latest articles from CONEXPO titled “Why Does Mental Health Matter in Construction?” and “Mental Health Programs Supporting the Construction Industry.” These two articles spotlight various professionals in the mental health awareness field, including Max Margolis, discussing our recent outreach efforts and the resources available to workers. We are honored to be mentioned in these articles!
Looking Ahead to Summer: Lines For Life Training
We also want to highlight Lines For Life will be hosting an ASIST training on Wednesday, June 12th-Thursday, June 13th at the Lines for Life office. This two-day intensive, interactive workshop provides participants with the skills and practice to assist in suicide intervention.

As always, please reach out if you have any questions and share these opportunities with your networks!
