Here is an update and some pictures of CSPP’s work for Construction Safety Week 2022. Thank you to everybody for promoting, printing, and sharing how the CSPP connects with this year’s Safety Week theme: Connected|Supported|Safe.
Safety Week Highlights
To kick off Safety Week, the CSPP virtually presented our Opioid Overview presentation to Line For Life’s Question Persuade Refer Collaborative to over 45 participants across Oregon.
In addition, our partners organized our first in-person Opioid Training, Opioids: A Constructive Overview, for apprentices and construction instructors at the Portland Northwest Carpenter’s Institute (PNCI). Thank you to Kristina Ewing, Director of Health and Well-Being for Andersen Construction and CSPP’s Education/Training Chairperson, and Mike Hawes, PNCI Executive Director, for organizing this event. Kristina also shared pictures of crews learning about EFT Tapping in Medford, OR.
Later in the Week, Howard S. Wright a Balfour Beatty Company invited CSPP to cap off their safety week at their Ritz-Carlton job site to cap off their Safety Week at their morning stretch and flex. Steve Frost, Safety and Environmental Manager for Howard S. Wright a Balfour Beatty company and CSPP’s Construction QPR Liason, promoted our NOT TODAY campaign by printing a reel of hard-had stickers to share with their work crews. Learn more about Howard S. Wright a Balfour Beatty company’s Your Frame of Mind Matters.
Our work has also extended past the Northwest Region. Natalie Cordova, Vice President of Construction Risk Practice for Marsh and CSPP Outreach/Engagement committee member, shared our effort and materials at her job site in Arizona. She printed CSPP’s banner and suicide warnings poster, which she got translated into Spanish, too.
Our OP-ED about the importance of Safety was published in Portland Business Journal. Thank you to Bill Barr (CSPP Chair), David Drinkward(President and CEO of Hoffman Construction), and Jodi Guetzloe Parker (Business Representative for LiLuna 737) for writing a thoughtful piece about expanding the meaning of safety.
Finally, Lines For Life, who oversees our project, promoted our effort on their website.
This was a week-long effort with numerous events across our region. If you have photographs or stories, please share them with us!
Let’s continue to Restore Belief. Refocus Purpose. Recover Hope.
